Cumbria Cottage Lovers is a small holiday cottage company based around the very beautiful and unspoilt Lake District National Park, offering a range of beautiful cottages in a variety of rural and tranquil settings.
Combined with attention to detail in all that we do, we aim to to provide outstanding holidays and breaks for our guests every single time.
We offer holiday cottages for rental in the sublime Duddon Valley, and at Thwaites, on the edge of the gorgeous Whicham Valley.
Just a short drive in any direction will lead you to valleys, lakes, fells, coast or town - all our cottages makes an excellent choice for those wishing to walk Scafell Pike from Wasdale end.

Walking from the door, an excellent pack of local guided walks awaits in Duddon View and Riverside cottages - so plenty of ideas of how to see the best that the surrounding fells and valleys have to offer!
Try the quaint, quintessentially English village of Broughton in Furness near by - boasting good pubs to eat and drink in, an amazing butcher and greengrocer and lovely bakery all on the doorstep.
Coniston is the nearest lake, a very scenic 30 minute drive through Torver, pick up the central Lakes, Windermere and Ambleside easily.

Thwaites - an excellent choice to walk Black Combe, visit the Cumbrian Heavy Horses or Swinside Stone Circle, and where we find happily located in an elevated position, The Byre and The Hayloft - Hot Tub included!
Comfortable studio accommodation where guests can relax, explore the local area, walk from the door, relax on the garden furniture and either start or finish the day, or start and finish the day relaxing in the hot tub surrounded by warm bubbles.

Sitting in an elevated position boasting the most stunning views from every direction - and a hot tub!
Beautiful, traditional beams, combined with modern conveniences within The Hayloft, and the result is a very stylish, bijou spot for two. Easily accessible, romantic, the furnishings very easy on the eye, close to civilisation and yet a world away from it all.
A variety of good traditional Lakes pubs, restaurants and takeaways are within touching distance (The Hayloft has a kitchenette with kettle, microwave/oven combination, fridge and crockery). Walking from the door is a must, the Swinside Stone Circle is within walking distance, and an additional barn is available to guests to use as a drying room, or to store bicycles etc.

Duddon View Cottage.....
Set in an area of outstanding natural beauty in the tranquil and calm Duddon Valley, Duddon View Cottage, as its name suggests, nestles snuggle at the foot of the Duddon River, beloved of Wordsworth and providing plentiful inspiration for his work and writings. There are a few neighbours at Duddon View, but more sheep than people to be frank. People and their possessions are very safe in the area and everyone you come across will offer a friendly greeting to visitors.
Duddon View delivers everything we can think of – a rolling river nearby, majestic fells/mountains to all sides, Duddon View is a most traditional Cumbrian Cottage, with a fabulous log burner, an enclosed courtyard, and yet lovingly restored, Laura Ashley style, to a very comfortable, indeed bespoke standard. Relaxation is guaranteed, there really is a place where you can go back in time and rest awhile.
A point of note, is that Duddon View sits side by side next to Riverside Cottage in the beautiful Duddon Valley, sleeping four guests in absolute comfort. Riverside Cottage sleeps 5, so plenty of room between the two cottages to sleep nine guests, a fabulous option for two families to be in very close proximity, or for larger groups to share neighbouring properties.

Riverside Cottage, nestling next to the River Duddon in the Duddon Valley, helps you understand clearly the magic that William Wordsworth saw, and why he was compelled to write such beautiful poetry about the valley.
The Newfield Inn, the local pub steeped in history, is a very scenic walk away of about a country mile.
Choose a view from the window seats towards Caw Fell and The Old Man of Coniston. Or the view from the garden towards Stickle Pike and to the fells across the river. You can see Wallabarra Crag from the slate garden. Listen to the river, which can be heard from the kitchen, the bathroom and of course the garden.
